With the credit market seizing up, and the financial markets proving a risky way to boost income, it seems that the work at home jobs market is well placed to provide a rich source of extra income in tough times. Home-based jobs are out there, having been growing over the last few years with the technological and broadband boom, with many legitimate work at home employers now offering a wide variety of free to register schemes. As ever, however, the key remains avoiding scams and never, ever paying to get access to a work at home job opportunity.

Work at home jobs have traditionally had a bad reputation, but as long as you are not paying to register or receive home-based job opportunity details then there are many real openings out there. Many legitimate companies are looking to reduce their overheads, close branches in expensive city locations, and increase their recruitment of home based staff. The bad reputation has also derived from the perceived low yield or pay offered by work at home jobs - however it is now possible to string together some attractive home-based specialist jobs, work hard at them, and pull in a respectable income. Less admittedly, than a regular job, but tough times call for a reevaluation of our expectations. Home-based jobs are here to stay and the onset of the credit crunch can only serve to boost further an industry that offers a flexible, cheaper, but still highly skilled workforce (without the employer having to pay property overheads).
